About

The Big C Society® directly supports student-athletes of the University of California at Berkeley (“Cal”) by providing supplemental funding to its non-revenue sports and to the recoveries of athletes who are seriously injured or facing life-threatening illnesses.  It is also the issuing authority for varsity athletic letters earned by student-athletes at Cal, its most well known role.  Founded in 1908, The Big C Society® operates as a 501(c)(3) organization whose membership is comprised of letter-winning varsity athletes along with honorary inductees who have made extraordinary contributions to Cal Athletics.  It raises money from its annual membership dues, voluntary contributions to The Big C Society Sports Fund and profits arising from ticketed events that it organizes on behalf of Cal Athletics (like its Hall of Fame induction banquet.)  The Big C Society® is the official ambassador of Cal Athletics and its mission is to be the connective tissue between all of Cal’s current and former athletes for life.
